“I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH” MATTHEW 16:18

Builders Fellowship is a grant program for Home Mission congregations sensing God’s lead to build a more permanent meeting facility. As concerned Christians share the same vision, AFLC Home Missions helps channel resources (funds, experience, volunteers) into these Home Mission congregations for maximum results.

Past recipients include Durant, OK, Tomball, TX, Mesa, AZ, Glen Rose, TX, and Madison, SD. A local AFLC fellowship was already established in each location, and Builders Fellowship was honored to come alongside, bridging the gap towards a more permanent facility for worship and outreach.

One example of Builders Fellowship at work is Calvary Free Lutheran in Mesa, AZ. Calvary Free Lutheran is a vibrant model of how a local congregation, God’s miraculous provision, and Builders Fellowship volunteers partnered together to build a church (see pictures below).

No one today could guess that Calvary’s building was once a former sewer plant. One project at a time, the facility was transformed into a beautiful worship facility and community lighthouse. With a mission of “Knowing Christ and Making Him Known,” Calvary now hosts Sunday services, a weekly food pantry, ESL classes, children’s club, and Bible studies.

2. Volunteer for Building Projects

Join a team of skilled volunteers using carpentry, painting, cement, electrical skills, etc…to help meet physical needs of a growing Home Mission congregation.

Skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed in such areas as painting, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, roofing, brick and block laying, landscaping, and handyman services. Helpers, assistants, and other support workers (such as cooks) are also essential parts of the team. Our projects volunteers include high school students, retired couples, and vacationing business men.

Home Missions has watched time and again how these volunteer work teams make an impact – not just in the morale and spiritual life of the church, but in the heart of every person on the work crew. As team members labor side by side with local congregation members, friendships are formed, prayers are offered up, and Home Missions takes on a new perspective.

Thank you Builder’s Fellowship! Although you built with wood and nails, we are confident your investment was not just physical, but eternal.
